Kindergarteners engage in age-appropriate faith activities focusing on God’s love for you individually. This class time is the seedbed used to sew an understanding of salvation history and that God had you in mind all along.
These grades engage real theological topics that branch from the truth that God loves us and wants us to be happy. The topics circulate around the sacramental life – that it is integral to the Christian life. We highlight strongly that Jesus’ example and the Church exists to offer us encouragement and an opportunity to live as truly as possible, and that happiness and truth are linked.
Sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation and First Communion typically occurs in second grade. Sacramental preparation includes special session family meetings, a rehearsal, and a bread making retreat for First Communion.
This program seeks to provide students the opportunity to encounter Christ through a fun and engaging environment. This rich milieu is energized with camaraderie and mentoring to develop a meaningful relationship with Jesus and His Church with the overall goal of yoking the students with each other, the leaders, and ultimately with Christ so we all walk as one toward heaven.
This evening is a melting pot of students, some of whom have gone to Stella Maris Academy, others who have come from our younger religious education grades, and still others who come out of the blue wanting to be confirmed. Everyone is welcome to this evening where we address the faith from the ground up using several aspects of history, logic, and theology to proclaim the truth of Christ and His Church. Our goal is to expose the care with which the Church makes theological decisions and offer each student a chance to dive into the ocean of history and truth that provides the Church its perspective.
Confirmation typically occurs in the 11th Grade year. Confirmation is a sacrament received freely and with the honest desire to be sealed with the gifts of the Holy Spirit with full intention of loving out Christian discipleship into adulthood. Confimation preparation incudes attendance at a Diocesan Confirmation retreat, documentation of volunteer hours, and supplemental education sessions with a parent and/or sponsor.
