As members of the gathered assembly, you are already a part of the most important choir at the Cathedral. You are the primary enactors of the liturgy – the work of the people, and you are called and blessed to be able to join your voices in praise to God. When our hearts, minds, and voices are united, every song is a prayer.
Every parishioner with a passion for music is invited to delve deeper into music ministry at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary. We will find a place for your talents! Learn more about our music at the Cathedral by clicking the links below.
“God has bestowed upon his people the gift of song. God dwells within each human person . . .
God, the giver of song, is present whenever his people sing his praises.”

The Cathedral Choir is a dedicated group of volunteer singers. Choir members attend regular weekly rehearsals, Thursdays from 6:30-8pm and participate in Mass on Sunday mornings at 10:30am September-May. The Cathedral Choir sings a varied repertoire ranging from Gregorian chant to newly composed works. In addition to Sunday morning Masses, our choir members act as music ministers at a variety of Cathedral and Diocesan liturgies. The Cathedral Choir is open to all parishioners 9th grade and above, and we are always accepting new members.
For youth in grades 4-8, the Cathedral Choristers build skills in healthy singing and develop a sense of ensemble while learning a diverse repertoire of Catholic liturgical music. They rehearse Thursdays from 5:15-6:00 pm and sing at Masses and special events several times during the school year.
These liturgical leaders are typically drawn from the Cathedral Choir. The cantor acts as the primary Psalmist and encourages the assembly’s participation in sung prayer through leading the sung acclamations and hymns with confident vocalism and gesture.
The Cathedral has dedicated scholarships for area college vocal music students interested in learning more about music ministry in the Catholic Church. These exceptional individuals are auditioned and participate in our Cathedral Choir as section leaders with the opportunity to expand into other roles as they develop their musical and liturgical skills.
The organ at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary was built by Robert Sipe, one of the preeminent pipe organ builders of his generation in the United States. His organs are to be found throughout the United States, with major instruments installed at Temple Square Assembly Hall in Salt Lake City, Luther College in Decorah, Iowa and Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church in Minneapolis, to name only a few. The organ at the Cathedral was installed in 1988 and consists of 25 stops, two manual keyboards and pedalboard, with mechanical key action.
