Altar servers assist the priest and deacon in the celebration of the Mass. This includes lighting the candles, carrying the processional cross and candles, bringing the Roman Missal to the priest or deacon, helping to set and clear the altar, ringing the altar bells and participating in the Mass itself. This ministry helps develop a sense of participation in parish life and a love for the church’s liturgical life. Adult servers are also asked to serve at funerals.
Adults as well as boys and girls in 4th grade and up are eligible for this ministry. Please contact the parish office or sign up here if you or your son or daughter is interested in becoming an altar server.
Sacristans support the priest and deacon, the liturgical ministers and the liturgy itself by setting up the sanctuary for the celebration of the Mass. They also assist after Mass ensuring everything is properly stored and cleaned. If you are interested in becoming a sacristan, please contact the parish office.
Ushers welcome parishioners and visitors to Mass, count attendance, take up the offertory, and are available to answer questions and provide assistance when needed. If you are interested in becoming an usher, please contact the parish office.
Bring Christ to the homebound! Each Sunday 10:30 Mass is livestreamed on the Cathedral YouTube channel. Special Masses and events are often livestreamed as well. The livestream volunteers work the computer and camera system to enhance the celebration of the Mass for those at home by focusing the camera on different areas of the sanctuary during Mass. Training is provided and you fulfill your Sunday Mass obligation! High school students and adults are welcome to join this ministry. Please contact the parish office if you are interested or sign up here.
