There are several different choral groups at the Cathedral. The choirs perform at a variety of church and Diocesan functions and services. There are not a lot of prerequisites to joining one of these groups, just a willingness to attend rehearsals and performances when scheduled. The minimum age for membership in the choirs (outside of the Choristers) is 9th grade. All cantors are all drawn from the choirs. Singers and musicians who would like to perform with one of the groups should contact Dr. Del Kahlstorf, the Cathedral Director of Music at 728-3646.
The Gallery choir has 25 members and performs on the 2nd and 4th Sundays from the choir loft accompanied by the church organ. This group practices on Thursdays from 6 PM - 7:30 PM.
The Folk Choir has about 20 members and sings with the piano and other instruments on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month. This group sings traditional and folk music and practices on Thursdays from 7:30 PM - 9 PM.
The Choristers is a group made up of children, grades 2-8. There are about 30 members of this group who practice on Tuesday afternoons from 2:30 PM - 3:55 PM. The Choristers usually perform one weekend a month.
The Rosary Ringers have 6-10 members who play hand bells. The performance times for this group varies with the seasons and services. The Ringers rehearse on Tuesdays from 5 PM - 6:30 PM.
